Question:
Why does my room smell so bad?

Why does my room smell so bad? I don't understand it. It smells like a mix of ancient, sweaty gym shoes, rotten onions, and burnt rubber. I'm serious. It's an AWFUL smell. There is NOTHING under my bed or in the closet. My room is immaculately clean. (because its also the guest room and I move out when theres a guest) And even if I left yesterday's shirt draped over a chair, it shouldn't smell THAT bad. I bathe regularly, use deodorant, and perfume, and I KNOW it isn't me. I try burning candles and spraying air fresheners, but they just mask the smell, and once they fade it's there again. It smells so bad when I wake up in the morning I can hardly take it. And I can't open a window because it's winter.
What could this smell be?

It's not clean.

Many items (and people) can give off malodors.

Smelly shoes, dirty clothes, pets, cigarettes, trash cans and not to mention you share the room with others from time to time.

Sometimes it's the furniture that has an offensive odor permeated into the fabric or wood. Once a smell gets into wood, it's very difficult to get rid of, but fabrics can typically be cleaned and refreshed easily enough.

Basically something needs cleaned. you need to find the source and take care of it. "Sniff Sniff"

It's usually Always the carpet. Wash your comforter, drapes, sheets and Blankets. The carpet may need replaced. Or ripped out. Maybe theres wood floors underneath! Take the heater vent off and wash it. Vacuum inside the air vent then take a wet cloth dipped in vinegar water and wash that air duct out and put clean vent cover back on. Get rid of all stinky shoes too! Oh it COULD be a dead mouse...those little guys can stink up an entire room and then some! It could be hidden somewhere rotting. It can even be in the wall smelling! I bet that;s what it is now....and it got stuck and died. BUT if there's 1 mouse you have more, It's a FACT.

To help clear the odour, pour some white vinegar into small bowls and place them around the room. That should help. If you have carpeting on the floor, sprinkle a good amount of baking soda over it. Wait 30 minutes or so, and then vacuum.

Surely you can open your window some. It would help by directing the odours outside.

Perhaps your carpet has odor. In winter I still open window for about 15 mn. to refresh oxygen. Cold fresh air might help.
