I have a cotton fabric quilt that recently became the victim of an unfortunate accident- a can of "Great Stuff" foam in the hands of someone who had no idea what was going on. I now have a big yellow scratchy patch on my quilt and no idea how to get it off. I washed it, scratched at it, tried various cleaners....what do I do?

I had a similar accident once...only I made the mistake of getting it on my hands and trying to wash them. Very bad...Great Stuff hates liquids. If you read the back of the can very carefully it says that nail polish remover (and it specifies whether it's acetone or non-acetone, but I don't remember which) is the only solvent for it. I had to get a neighbor to run to an all night pharmacy for me because my fingers were stuck together. I can indeed vouch that the nail polish remover works...but it did take 2 bottles of it to unstick my fingers.

The way I figure it, if the nail polish remover doesn't work, then you're still where you were when you started. At least it won't hurt the quilt. But leaving that "stuff" on there would be a real bummer.

once set can only be scratched off . if fresh can use spray break cleaner.

I was wonderin why youd want to remove great stuff. You would think youd want to add great stuff.

soak it in milk and if that doesn't work, try sunlight dish soap and if that doesn't work, nothing will
