ok. how to explain.. I have an automatic oven cleaner option.. which is wonderful.. but when I usually clean the oven, I also clean the top burner spill pans (I guess thats what you call them).. they are made of the same enamel surface as the oven walls.. Normally I just soak them in hot sudsy water during the 3 hours the oven is auto cleaning, then scrub them afterwards.. I was wondering.. could I just put the 4 stove top spill pans in the oven racks and allow the auto oven feature to burn off the spills on those also.. therefore just wiping up the dust afterwards instead of soaking them? I couldnt find any info on the GE website..

From what I understand, the temp inside the over when cleaning gets up to like 1500 degrees or something. I would really, really hesitate to risk it without an answer from someone at GE, instead of someone here.

No..and the reason is your oven racks are to be removed from the oven before cleaning. The high temps will ruin the finish on them. As for if it would be safe..I would not risk it..if something happens to the spill pans (that are not as heavy as the walls and may look like the interior, but do you really know if they are the same?), but if something happens you cannot open the oven if they catch fire because of the lock mode. Not worth the chance.

Yes, it is NOT. Get some oven cleaner. You don't need a manual.

I doubt if they would get hot enough. No harm done to try it but I think you'll be stuck with your normal method.
