Seems like I am cleaning the windows all the time with a two year old leaving her handprints everywhere. The windex just seems to streak and smudge and doesnt work very well. I know sometimes you can use vinegar water. But was wanting to know if there is some other miracle cleaner out there that I am missing.

I use white vinegar, no water and an old news paper. I will crumple the paper up until it is real soft and there will be no streaks.

If I have no newspaper I use toilet paper, no streaks.

Best thing to use is vinegar and water mixed at 20 to 30%. It works well, it's cheap and 100% natural.

By the way, now is a good time to inform the little one that her little hands don't belong on the glass. If you mix up some vinegar and water then let her "help" you with cleaning up her hand prints on the windows that might be enough of an incentive to stop doing it!

Good luck

THE BEST WINDOW CLEANER

Make a great all-purpose window cleaner by combining 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon liquid soap or detergent, and 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. Combine in a spray bottle. Shake to blend.

Here are a couple more window cleaner recipes:

Homemade Rubbing Alcohol Glass Window Cleaner

Mix in a spray bottle:

1 cup rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol

1 cup water

1 tablespoon white vinegar

Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) evaporates, and leaves no residue. It provides the base for an evaporating glass cleaner that stands strong next to any commercial glass cleaning product. You can use this window cleaning spray recipe to clean not only windows and glass, but mirrors, shine your chrome fixtures, and even on stainless steel.

Homemade Ammonia Glass Window Cleaner

Mix in a spray bottle:

1 cup rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol

1 cup water

1 tablespoon clear, non-sudsing ammonia

Ammonia is a strong alkaline. Using this recipe with ammonia is a stronger version of the cleaning recipe that contains vinegar

Stone Tech stone & tile cleaner, the one in the gray bottle and blue letters, I know it's for granite and stone but I've use it for mirrors and windows and it leaves NO streaks or clouddy residue. Also if you don't want to buy cleaning products, hot water and newspaper will work too.

I found this the best for windows. A block of sand soap [or similar type of soap] - use a damp cloth on the block of soap to get some soap on the cloth, then apply it to the windows, it will be streaky and look awful [like big, fluffy clouds on your glass] but, leave it on like that to dry fully, then polish off with dry scrunched up newspaper. They will sparkle!!

When the Windex ran out, I used windshield washer fluid. It seems stronger. You could try a good squeegee to reduce haze or smearing.

Hi chances are you are dealing with some really dirty windows.

Get a squeege & really scrub the windows down with a soap water mixture. & then use the squeegee to clean them off with.

Then use the vinager water to get rid of soap scum.
