No save it up till you have large loads. Also do your laundry at night or whenever others in your household are not using as much electricity - I do my laundry when the kids are in bed. That way a TV isn't going and all the lights are on and the dryer isn't competing with the AC. Use your cold water - do you remember Tide's cold water challenge...you CAN do all your laundry on cold and if you use the right amount of soap and bleach it is just as clean and cost less in electricity. Keep your lint traps clean too for more energy savings.

Yes, this is true. It is energy efficient to do 1 large load then 2 small loads. When doing 2 small loads you are using twice as much electricity/energy. To be energy efficient you need to do 1 large load.

When the motor runs it uses the same power no mater what you put in it.

So the number of times you run it makes the difference.

The other thing is the hot water issue. Hot water filling the tank is by far the most expensive part about it. Run it with cold water and you will save big bucks.

Large loads save more since you use the washer and dryer less frequently.
