When I wash my clothes that have been sitting for a week, like towels, they wash fine, and come out great, but after using the clean towers later, they have an odor (damp) smell to them what do you recommend pls

Despite the comments here there are a large number of front loading "HE" washing machines that do a terrible job out there. Without identifying the model there is no way to be sure. Poor construction, mold and poor cleaning results are all too common. There are a number of class action lawsuits against certain manufacturers Kenmore, whirlpool LG, are happening right now. Simple googling will find this out for those that don't know. I'm not sure if this is a design problem or what but, it is a real problem. I personally had a new kenmore "HE" front loader new in '06 and it was a piece of junk. I replaced it with a Speed Queen top loader almost 2 years ago and all those problems vanished. For those that don't know google "amazon Speed Queen" and find out what real users are experiencing.

First of all, don't leave them to sit for a week- they're growing mildew and mold, which is why they smell. When you wash the towels, add 1/4 cup of bleach to the wash water before you add the towels. the bleach will kill any germs and bacteria. It will also keep them cleaner for longer if it's bit damp.

When you wash your clothes add two cups of white vinegar along with your detergent at the start of the wash. The vinegar will help remove odors.
