I have an air purifier in the house and I sometimes smoke instead and I open the windows and sometimes turn on the fan. The air purifier is usually on but it sometimes smells like old smoke in the house. Is there anything out there you can recomend? Any smokers or even non smokers have any ideas for me to try!?!? Thanks!

I'm a smoker... but I only smoke in one room in my house. I leave the window open and a fan pointing outside. I also buy this stuff called BluntPower air freshener. It comes in over 200 scents.. so there's one for everyone :) If you would rather buy something from a store as opposed to online, you can buy this stuff at smoke shops called GetOut! Smoke Eliminator. It works great too... if I run out of Blunt Power, I use the GetOut. Good luck!

Oh, here's where to buy Bluntpower.

I had a fire last year in my home and found several products that help remove smoke odor. You can get the smell out of carpets by sprinkling baking soda or borax in them when you vacuum. Let it sit for between 1/2 and an hour before you hoover away. If you wash your walls, surfaces, accessories, wainscoting, woodwork, crown molding, doors or frames, use Krud Kutter straight. It removes the smell, soot and chemicals contained in smoke and is a biodegradable, chemical free, non-toxic formulation which is environmentally safe. You can even use it to clean upholstery and garments in the laundry without damage. There is also an air freshener product called OZIUM which you can find at automotive and discount stores that literally eats up the smoke odor smell. ODOR-BAN and ZERO ODOR also work but are harder to find. Finally, burning candles and/or liquid potpourri helps, too.

I'm a smoker and no there's no good way to remove the smoke smell without a thorough cleaning. And I mean the walls, the furniture, the drapes - basically everything that is exposed to smoke. The problem is that the smoke contains particulate matter that sticks and also has an odor. Sorry, I have the same problem.

I don't smoke but you are cool because you obviously care about someone else smelling the fumes. The only problem is that most people are dead against what is fondly called "herbs" You are just going to have to go outside...to walk the dog, water the grass, take out the trash, etc. Anything that will take you out of the house without too much suspicion.

Fabreeze fabric cleaner will get the odor out of upholstery and you can use the air freshener to cover up the odor in your house. Keep in mind that the odor is in your upholstery, your bedding (including the mattress), your carpet, your stored clothing and even on the walls.

A neighbor was not allowed to smoke inside his apartment, but he hung out in bars where smoking was allowed. When he moved, his coat closet reeked so bad of cigarette smoke that the next renter moved out after a couple of days.

Yeah, the smell will get on anything that oxygen touches. My sister had a huge house, only smoked outside, but her clothes still stank. She'd give me her old clothes, and I'd have to wash them 2-3x to get the smell out completely. That smoke is some tuff stuff to remove. Either you need to quit smoking to quit stinking or get used to the stankiness.

Glade make a botanical air freshner called Neutralizer. It says right on the can that it is effective against tobacco smoke. I'm satisfied with the product.

My dad uses 409 MONTHLY and washes down every wall in the house (it's a job). Daily - a tiny bit of OUST in the air and Febreeze on the fabric. It helps; however, nothing totally gets rid of the smell ... except to smoke outside or QUIT smoking!

maybe you could wash your walls down and things like that and wash your curtains that would help alot if there is old smoke in the house. and u could also get some air freshners and put then in your house where ever u want and how ever many u want to.

Not to sound rude..but maybe you shouldn't smoke in your house...period. My sister is a smoker and she won't smoke in her car or home because of the smell. Its very difficult to get that smell out even if you use air fresheners, open windows, turn on fans, etc..etc...

Now, if you just have to smoke in your home, than I would recommend that you do a "google" search on "getting rid of the smell of smoke" or something to that effect to get tips from other smokers who have had success using alternative methods.

good luck.
