we do the washing weekly at the weekend and i usually seperate into whites coloureds darks and towels but i will also create maybe 3 more loads of delicates or half loads sometimes. i feel like i am wasting water and energy and soap powder but i think they should be done like this in small loads if they are delicate. and different colour

I agree. I have learned that unless work type clothes are REALLY dirty, they can be washed on the gentle or hand wash cycle with the delecates, making a full load. I always wash with warm to cold water so I separate colors/darks from whites/lights. (I do female undies and the like with like items only, though)

It is much more energy efficient to do larger loads or full loads of laundry. You use the same amount of electricity for a small load as a big, so its wise to not do such small loads. My washer is a front loader (basic) and while I love the clean I get, there is no way to adjust the water level for a larger load or smaller load, so it uses the same amount of water for big or small. Might as well make it a full load. Since I now have 3 foster children, this isn't hard to do almost daily, but when its just me and the dogs, well, it may take a few days. I will sometimes pull curtains, or pillow covers, sheets and so on a little early to wash a full load, if I am wanting something washed now, otherwise I wait, it will be along shortly. If I have delicates, the wash cycle for that seems to run a bit differently, but I am not doing anything that delicate that often these days (used to in my younger days, when dainties were used daily). Now I am a comfort Queen, flannel in winter, and light cotton in summer. Not the slinky polyester baby dolls of yester year. Sheesh!

Good for you.... more people should be careful with their laundry!!!!!

As long as you don't have a problem with OCD, you keep doing the laundry the way you see fit.... unless you wanna keep running out to the Walmart to buy new stuff because you ruined your clothes by washing them incorrectly.

Have a great day.

I just buy more clothes and wait til I have a full load always before I do any.....as long as the clothes are not damp or wet they will wait for a full load...Sometimes it takes 2 or more weeks til I get a full load......especially the red colored load. I always seperate them..I would kill them if I didn't

I put all my clothes (whites, coloreds, darks, jeans) in the washer at the same time it's easier that way.
