How do you remove crayon from an electric pencil sharpener?

My daughter had the 'bright' idea to sharpen a crayon in our electric pencil sharpener and now it doesn't work. I was wondering if there is a way to rid the sharpener of this crayon mess or do I need to buy a new $20.00 sharpener?

Unplug it and take it to bits and clean out the crayon. Failing that it's get a new one.

You could try just running a couple pencils all the way through it, keep emptying the mess.



I'd do this somewhat slowly so the machine doesn't heat up, that would cause the wax to get softer and stick to things.



Come to think of it, try putting the machine in the fridge before you run the pencils through it, that will cause the wax inside to harden and maybe get blown out of it.
