Clean out the filter. If the filter is blocked it will cause the machine to stop,it did with mine.

make and model would help! sounds like the heater has failed. when it reaches heat stage of program its waiting to reach set temp. and wont move on until it does. if you got variable temp control or economy button. select 0 temp and try again. if it goes through you know its the heater circuit.

A few months ago my washing machine wouldn't change cycles and it keep just letting water flow into it. It turns out that a hose had come undone and it won't change cycles if that happens. It likely happened when the machine went off balance and the hose wiggled out of place.

We've just had the exact same problem and it was cheaper to buy a new washing machine. Calling out an engineer just to look at it costs around £80. To be honest, I think you may have to bite the bullet and buy a new one, maybe on interest free credit to give you a little more time to pay it off.

It sounds like the programme that has malfunctioned. If it has then it is the most expensive item to replace and repair. If it's over 5 years old you are best to get another washing machine either new or second hand.

Maybe your hose is blocked up. Mine stopped working and it turned out that the hosepipe was blocked with all kinds of crap and a hair pin. Once it was cleared the machine was ok again. Good luck.
